If your were planning to stop by your local T-Mobile store and pick up the new Android G1 phone save yourself the trip, there sold out.
At the T-Mobile product launch a couple weeks ago the new Google powered G1 phone was frankly undersold to the public. Even T-Mobile estimated they would only need 700,000 units of the G1 Android for stores at the officail launch later this month.
The demand for the Android G1 was underestimated by T-Mobile as half a million units sold in just a couple days after the launch party in New York. The price did not hurt the G1 Androids chances at taking a bite out of the iPhone either, with a two year contract you can pick one up for $179.00.
Having basic math skills the T-Mobile execs bumped their original order to 1.5 million G1 Androids. They quickly sold another 300,000 and by the time the phones are scheduled to be in stores on October 22 it is likely there will be no Google G1 Androids to offer.
Oh, well there is always eBay.
T-Mobile will offer seperate voice and data plans. Voice plans start at $30 per month and data plans at $25 for unlimited web and limited messaging. Unlimited web and messaging is $35.
