Jack Hunter aka Southern Avenger interviews Richard Spencer of Taki’s Magazine about the history of Neo-Conservatism.
What is a NEOCON? They originated in the 1950’s in New York and Chicago as elitist intellectuals who rejected Stalin’s version of communism while embracing Leon Trotsky’s view of socialism. Originally aligned with the Socialist and Democratic Parties they infiltrated the Republican Party in the mid 1970’s as the “left” became anti-war.
George H. Bush was the first NEOCON President forcing the Reagan era conservatives from senior positions in government. While many people associate Neo-Conservatism with Republicans, NEOCONS are well represented in the Democratic Party as well. During the Clinton Administration NEOCONS held senior cabinet positions such as Secretary of State Madeline Albright and just days ago Barack Obama announced that NEOCON Joe Biden will be his running mate.
